  • Chairman's Report - March 2015

Well another busy year, it only seems a short while since I was reading out the last Chairman's report.

Once again all the events we have run and jobs we have done have been successful and well received.

Mayfair and Carnival was a great success with the life size table football game proving very popular.

The revels on the commons was well attended. Thanks to all the bands who turned up to play for free and all the wives partners and girlfriends as well as non Cavaliers who help out.

We had our best ever November bonfire and fireworks show and raised a fantastic amount of money.

Christmas and New Year - once again what a great few days. You guys keep excelling with the grotto design, it just keeps getting better. We gave away more sweetie bags this time than ever before and again the feedback showed how much the whole event is appreciated. Particular thanks to Chris and his son Damien for all the hard work in the painting of the Frozen scene.

The atmosphere in the square on New Year's Eve was fantastic and the night went off without any major problems.

We kept the tradition of the 1646 march going and Two Tigers again provided a great display.

However the year has been dominated by the building of Trumpton. I know there have been some sticky moments and we may not be as far ahead as we would like, but the momentum has picked up in the last few weeks and progress is really being made. Thanks to our new recruits whose enthusiasm and commitment is an example to everyone. There is still a lot of work to be done both on site and in the background. Bonfire meetings will become increasingly important and I would ask everyone to attend when and if they can. Let us look forward to a successful event in August.

All the other less glamorous jobs have again been done with the usual enthusiasm despite the amount of bureaucracy thrown in our way.

Thanks very much to all the officers for their help throughout the year.

But most all thanks to all Cavaliers for your help, support and enthusiasm and let's look forward to another successful year and a fantastic bonfire event.
