Start: 19 Jul 2008 - 12:00am
End: 25 Aug 2008 - 5:00pm

We are pleased to announce that this years competition is sponsored by housebuilders George Wimpey. The Cavaliers are organising the Great Torrington 2nd Annual Scarecrow competition though out the summer. The plans are that we want as many private householders, businesses and schools as possible to make a Scarecrow and display it either in their gardens or outside their business premises. If they don’t have a garden or ground space the Scarecrows can be fixed to the wall, hung from windows or even on roofs in fact any where they can be seen and provide a good opportunity for visual display and reasonable access for judging.

We want the Scarecrows on display from Saturday 19th July until Monday 25th August. And they can be on any theme or subject of your choice and each one or group must have a name.

The entry fee is £5 for private householders. £10 for business premises and schools are free.

There will be various prizes in each group and points are awarded for originality, quality, attention to detail and topicality, etc.

The entry forms and full set of rules will be available at TATTERSALLS property management office 1, Castle Street Torrington from Monday 30th June. Your entry fee must be paid when you pick up your entry form.

This is the second time Torrington has had a Scarecrow competition we hope many people and businesses in the local area will enter and contribute to making the Town and surrounding district colourful though the summer and exceed last year’s effort.

Chris Stacey. Chairman Torrington Cavaliers.
