Cavaliers support Cancer

The proceeds ,£4000, of the sponsored walk/run/pogo ran last year on the Tarka trail, have been presented.

The event was organised by Dick Matthews and Dave Kelly to support two Cancer charities; Breast & Prostate. Both close to the hearts of Dave & Dick. The Cavaliers are always good supporters of Cancer charities.

Pictured are Chris Tattersall (cavaliers treasurer) and Lyndsey Brown presenting the cheques for £2000 to the breast cancer charity at Barnstaple hospital. The £2000 for the prostate charity has already been presented.

Rose Kennelly

Rose Kennelly 14 asked if we could help. She is going on a trip to Sri Lanka working with underprivileged and disabled children within the slums of Colombo. We were happy to help and donated £25 to her funds.

Dre Curtis

Dre Curtis,4, was involved in a serious road traffic accident in which members of his family were killed. Dre himself is in stoke mandeville hospital, he is now sadly paralysed and cannot come home until a special wheel chair is purchased. The whole of Torrington is fundraising for the cause, and we have decided to donate £1000 to the family to use as they feel fit at this sad time. We hope this can go someway to getting him home soon.

Lee Bingham & Paul Champion cycle from Lands end to John O`groats for TOPS

Lee Bingham ( Husband of Jo Bingham, nee Palmer of Torrington) and Paul champion are cycling from Lands end to John O Groats to raise money for TOPS (Teenage Oncology Patient Support) which helps teenagers with cancer to have holidays and breaks. They help children from all over the south west.

We have agreed to support them in their venture. We have pledged 50% of the the profit from our auction in July. £200 was initially donated as part payment of the profit the rest payable after the auction.

The auction raised a fantastic £1509.30. This will be split 50/50 between our bonfire fund and TOPS. Teenage Oncology Patient Support which is affiliated to CLIC.
