Golf Day 2011

The first of what hopes to be an annual charity golf day, was held at the Great Torrington Golf Club last weekend. Members of the Torrington Cavaliers teamed up with players from the club in a "Pinehurst Greensomes" event. Twenty players enjoyed a good spirited game, with the non-golfers paired with club members to even things out.

Garry Harding from the golf club said: "It was a lovely day and the standard of golf was surprisingly good! We have great facilities here and it's nice to be able to share that with local groups such as the Cavaliers." Andrew Morris from the Cavaliers said: "We had a great day. None of us are golfers but the club made us feel welcome and were very patient with us. We will have to chip in though, for a new bag of balls!"

It was a very close game and the winning partnership, after a count-back, was Keith Beer from the club and Bernie Wittram from the Cavaliers, with 40 points.
