Mayfair & Carnival 2011

The Cavaliers were again actively involved in the celebrations this year.

It started with putting up the bunting and the "Us be plaised to zee 'ee" banner, then the erection of the bandstand and the fuzz (gorse) which was put up in the square on the night before. We will then of course have to recover everything!

On Mayfair morning we started early and helped put out the seating, erect the maypoles and anything else required of us.

At 1130 the "dancing" members of us entertained the crowds with their version of YMCA! I felt that some seemed at home with their costumes! Please see the links to you tube in the story below this one.

At 1500 we staged the "Royal wedding Races" where teams of 2 raced against each other around a circuit in the square which saw Big ben, the marriage certificate had to be signed and the cake cut whilst a photo was taken. This all took place from the "Royal" carriages. We actually had 15 teams enter, I suspect the £50 worth of beer tokens for the prize helped! Good fun was had by all.

Pictured are the 2 winners accepting the prize from our Chairman Chris Stacey. They actually donated £20 of their prize back to us for charitable causes. THANK YOU!

On Friday the fittest members of our team entered the Round the Tree race www.torringtonaac.org pulling the royal carriages. They completed the race in pretty good time, well done lads.

I dont have any good photos yet, so as soon as www.davespix.co.uk lets me have some I will show them, thanks Dave.

Saturday we entered the Carnival keeping the same theme of the Royal wedding with Shaun Mitchell as the Bride and Alan Stacey as the Groom. What a beautiful couple they made!! The other members entered as guests of the wedding along with the CWAGS (Cavaliers Wives And Girlfriends).

Here are 2 links to ALL the photos I took, not including the Carnival. Please note there a lot of photos.
