Diamond Jubilee Beacon Party 2012

The Party goers started to arrive from 5pm and were entertained by various musicians and a DJ, with fun and games for the kids and a Bar for the older people. the sun shone , well for most of the day, but the rain held off.

Over 3000 people enjoyed the afternoon celebrating the 60 years of our Queen's reign. The event culminated in the lighting of the beacon by 16 year old Brittany Nudds assisted by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Margaret Brown and Geoff Lee who lit a firework which flew into the beacon and lighting it at precisely 22:26 in a truly specatacular way. A few fireworks signalled the ignition from the lower level of the beacon and just after the beacon fell onto the main body of the bonfire we were all entrhralled by a truly spectacular firworks display professionally fired by Two Tigers Fireworks.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this celebration a great success. Also thanks to Glenn Bealey without whose loan of the field and the support he gives we could not have staged this event and to the Town Council and everyone else who supported us.
