Here are some news clippings from the early days of the Cavalier. Articles from Peter Christie.
Our good fried Santa Claus came to Great Torrington again this year to give presents to all the children of the town. His helpers this year were from the Star Wars movie and to help with the atmosphere our good friend Damien (Damo) Stacey painted a fantastic mural.
For the adults there was FREE mulled cider, hot chestnuts and Mince pies with clotted cream! This is our favourite event of the year which is followed by a get together in the Black Horse for some Carol singing (although it might not have sounded like that at times!).
Our thanks go to Santa Claus who gave his time, the cast of Star Wars, Damo Stacey and to everyone who attended and made this Christmas event so special.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year from the Great Torrington Cavaliers!
"As one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled has shown unto many." - Governor William Bradford of Plimoth Plantation.
The Great Torrington Cavaliers would like to thank you all for attending our annual bonfire and fireworks spectacular last weekend. We hope you enjoyed the excellent display by Two Tigers Fireworks.
We would also like to thank Glen Bealey for the use of his field and for his invaluable help with the building of the fire, the Rugby Club for the use of their facilities, Pearce Construction, Atlas packaging, Home Hardware and Combe fisheries for the pallets.
We are now looking forward to starting the build of the 2020 bonfire next spring.
Thanks again to you all we really appreciate it.
We are delighted to announce that we have come to agreement with some of our suppliers for the sponsorship / support for Bonfire 2020. We are really please that these organisations are helping because we would be unable to stage such an event without their valued help which in turn allows us to raise money for charity. Thank you.
